This self-emptying robot with a budget does an okay job on hard floors as well as carpets with low pile. The combo brush can reach into corners and edges and it automatically boosts suction when it senses carpet. It also does a good job of cleaning embedded dirt off carpets in the middle of the pile. The IQ has a tiny footprint and also a self-emptying function. However, if you wish to alter the floor level on the map or create no-go zones, you'll need to manually reset it to do so, which is quite trouble.

The IQ app comes with advanced mapping and automated features, but it lacks no-go zones. They are only available on iRobot robots. Its smart-pathing system allows for superior maneuverability, and the high-pile mode of its carpet cleaning mode is effective but it could get stuck on rug tassels.

During our tests, the IQ was able to handle pet hair effectively, clearing huge amounts of debris from floors with no flooring and fair amounts on medium-pile carpet. It was less efficient on shag carpets, which was a struggle to reach dirt and dust embedded in the fibers. It was able to maneuver the legs of chairs, small spaces and even the base of an IKEA wooden step stool. It was slower on bare flooring but it was able to recover speed and was more efficient than the other robots we test.

The IQ is a better choice over the iRobot Roomba 694 for most applications. It has a bigger dust bin, lasts longer on a charge and does a better job of moving itself around obstacles. It also has mopping attachments that are able to tackle sticky messes. On the other side the iRobot feels better-built, has fewer parts that require maintenance or replacement, incurs lower recurring costs, and can create virtual no-go zones through its companion app. It can even restart a cleaning session from where it left off if it is unable to recharge its battery prior to finishing the job. The iRobot can also be controlled via voice commands, which is a big plus for many users.

Eufy 11S

The eufy RoboVac 11S robot vacuum isn't among the most feature-rich models, but it offers great cleaning power at affordable prices. It's designed for budget-conscious buyers who don't need a complicated mapping system or app to control the device. The robot is capable of running for more than an hour and includes a remote, cleaning tool, AC power adapter, charging base and extra filters.

The 11S is slim and sleek with an upper deck of tempered glass that covers plastic and is made to here appear like brushed aluminum. It's a nice stylistic departure from Roomba, Samsung, and Neato designs that are more utilitarian and industrial.

In our tests, the eufy11S was extremely effective at removing larger debris and fine dust on hard flooring. It struggled to deep clean high-pile and medium-pile carpets. The device is capable to hit furniture and people in its route. However, it is able detect obstacles with sensors. It stops and emits a loud ring when it encounters an obstacle. You can then manually guide the device around it and return it to working.

Another great feature of the eufy11S is its BoostIQ mode, which allows you to set the robot to automatically adjust its suction power to match the floor type and level of dirt. It's also easy to use the remote to direct the 11S to where you want it to move.

If you don't have many furniture in the room you're looking to vacuum Single Room Mode is an excellent option. The eufy will take 30 minutes focusing on cleaning the space it is assigned to.

Edge Cleaning is another option that limits the time spent on each area to 20 minutes. This will increase battery life. By selecting this option the eufy can move in a spiral fashion, tackling corners and edges to ensure a clean.

Miele Complete C1

The Miele Complete C1 is an excellent mid-range robot vacuum that can be a great performer on carpet. Its performance on bare floors is also outstanding. It can pick up rice and other fine particles effortlessly. The suction power doesn't drop as the dirt bin gets full. Its design that is allergy-friendly and sealed with air captures allergens to keep your family healthy. It comes with an onboard HEPA filter and a self-emptying bin, so you don't need additional filters or a separate vacuum bag.

It's not quite as powerful as other models, but it's excellent for deep cleaning and taking on staining.
